Supply Chain Director - NA AAB

Job Summary:

The Director of Supply Chain NA AAB plays a critical role in leading the strategic direction and building consistent tools and processes for the supply chain function within NA AAB. This strategic leadership position requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the S&OP process, demand forecasting, procurement excellence, inventory optimization, and transformational systems initiatives. This leader ensures cross-functional alignment between commercial, operations, and finance teams to enable efficient supply chain planning and execution. The role also includes building high-performing teams, developing robust systems and tools, and instilling a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

Responsibilities:

  • Supply Chain Strategy & S&OP:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive supply chain strategies for procurement, inventory management, warehousing, transportation, and logistics.
    • Establish KPIs and dashboards to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
    • Lead the monthly S&OP process to ensure alignment between demand, supply, inventory, and financial goals.
    • Facilitate integrated planning across sales, operations, finance, and supply teams to optimize service levels (OTIF) and working capital.
  • Forecasting & Demand Planning:
    • Collaborate with commercial, operations, and finance teams to develop accurate, data-driven demand forecasts and sales projections.
    • Utilize forecasting tools and data analytics to optimize inventory levels, minimize stockouts, meet customer demand, and improve free cash flow.
    • Utilize statistical models, historical data, and market intelligence to improve forecast accuracy and responsiveness.
  • Procurement:
    • Manage procurement of metal and other direct materials. Collaborate with global metal procurement teams to optimize the procurement process.
    • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with key suppliers and vendors. Gain visibility into supplies and inventory to ensure efficient operations.
  • Inventory Optimization:
    • Develop and implement inventory management strategies to optimize inventory levels while balancing service levels, carrying costs, and cash flow, and mitigating stockouts.
    • Implement inventory planning techniques such as safety stock, reorder points, and replenishment strategies.
    • Implement inventory visibility tools and strategies to reduce obsolescence and working capital.
  • Logistics and Distribution:
    • Support transportation, warehousing, and distribution operations to ensure timely and cost-effective product delivery to customers.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions. Proactively manage risks related to supplier relationships, geopolitical factors, natural disasters, and other external threats.
  • System Transformation and Tools:
    • Evaluate, implement, and leverage technology solutions such as planning and supply chain management software, ERP systems, and data analytics tools to enhance supply chain visibility, agility, and efficiency.
    • Champion digital tools, dashboards, and analytics that support data-driven decision-making.
  • Data analysis and Insights:
    • Utilize analytical tools and techniques to extract actionable insights from data, driving continuous improvement in forecasting accuracy, demand planning, inventory management, and resource allocation.
    • Build scenario modeling and risk assessments to identify potential issues and develop mitigation strategies. Leverage AI technologies where applicable to enhance predictive analytics capabilities.
  • Organizational Development & Continuous Improvement:  
    • Build and develop a high-performing supply chain team with clear roles, responsibilities, and career paths. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and results orientation.
    • Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the supply chain function, proactively identifying opportunities to optimize processes, enhance capabilities, and drive operational excellence. Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to supply chain and AI.
    • Participate in or lead global supply chain improvement projects

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in supply chain management or a related field, with at least five years in leadership. Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and managing a team to achieve supply chain objectives.
  • Proactive, results-oriented, and self-motivated. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Ability to lead and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and strategies. Proficiency in supply chain management software and tools.
  • Strong understanding of AI technologies and their applications in supply chain planning (e.g., demand forecasting, machine learning, predictive analytics, optimization algorithms, etc.).
  • Certification in supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CSCP) is a plus.
