ob Summary:
The Senior Innovation Technician will support the development of new shaping capabilities for the inside liner or Litho of new or modified can profiles. Setting up tooling, running can samples, collection of data, and reporting on progress and issues with new shaping designs.
Job Duties:

Assist Innovation Director in the production of sample and/or prototype can profiles.

Read blueprints and can drawings to determine job specifications and tooling.

Set up and operation of equipment.

Perform checks and record findings to ensure cans are consistent with required specifications.

Make recommendations for improvements to tooling and/or shape design.
-
Provide input on manufacturability of customer requested can profiles.
-
Report on issues that arise in the set-up or production of samples and/or prototypes cans.
-
Participate in special projects assigned by the Innovation Director.

Collaborate with engineers and other technical personnel to develop new shapes and corresponding metal-forming tooling.

Assists in the completion of tooling trials

Troubleshooting of existing or new shapes as necessary to address issues with tooling designs, upstream processes and/or drawings.

Supports the purchase, design, manufacturing and/or commissioning of new machinery for the innovation department.

Supports the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for New Containers and Tooling Development and Testing.

Assists and supports department and plant wide continuous improvement efforts.

Works within appropriate standards and maintains documentation in accordance to ISO 9001 requirements.

Documentation of innovation activities, technical reports and other required engineering documentation to support new or improve design development.

Other duties as required and defined by reporting manager
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

Advanced understanding or Litho and Inside Liner tooling, set-up and machine capability
-
Basic computer skills.

The ability to see details at close range.

Blueprint reading.

Advanced problem-solving ability

Measuring skills using calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.

Superior mechanical aptitude.
-
Excellent communication skills with the ability to read, write and communicate fluently in English.

Ability to create high quality and concise technical reports.

Able to formulate key observations and conclusions during trials or during development work.

Ability to meet demanding timelines in high pressure situations to meet customer requirements.
Work Environment:
This role is in a manufacturing environment and the employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts that produce noise.
