Job Summary:
The Compensation and Benefits (C&B) Manager is responsible for the administration of all benefit and retirement related plans for North America. In addition, the position will support the implementation and management of the Company’s compensation program and benefit plans, as well as analyzing and keeping current with market trends while adhering to compliance with federal, state and local legislation.
Job Duties:
- Administers benefits to include but not limited to Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability, supplemental/voluntary and retirement plans
- Administers the leave of absence program to include but not limited to short-term and long-term disability, FMLA leaves, and the Company’s paid and unpaid leave programs
- Creates benefit communication materials including presentations and information packages, to keep employees and management informed on benefits information and changes
- Analyzes benefits policies, government regulations, and market trends rates to offer suggestions towards a competitive benefits plan
- Fulfills all reporting requirements of all relevant government rules and regulations, including the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA)
- Validates life events and captures arrears resulting from changes
- Completes Qualified Medical Support Orders
- Audits information received from union benefit vendors
- Maintains updated information in benefit administration software
- Coordinates wellness events, flu shots, annual health fair and other wellness challenges
- Assists with monthly benefit carrier bill reconciliation and processing
- Administers COBRA for the business and ensures COBRA notices are issued timely and within government regulations
- Allocates COBRA payments to the finance team
- Participates in annual compliance and audit activities as needed
- Uploads weekly FSA, HSA and dependent care FSA deposits into vendor’s portal with each payroll process
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all laws, regulations and practices affecting employee benefits programs and ensures that the Company’s benefit programs are compliant
- Identifies, researches, analyzes and resolves benefits enrollment and vendor issue.
- Possesses a complex understanding of defined benefit and defined contribution retirement plans
- Performs all facets of daily retirement plan administration including processing of contributions, loans, distributions, and hardship withdrawals
- Performs nondiscrimination and other regulatory testing, if needed
- Prepares signature ready Forms 5500 and other government fillings
- Reviews, interprets, and maintains the legal benefit plan documents to ensure plan compliance with current IRS/DOL regulations
- Manages the development, implementation, and administration of compensation programs
- Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommends changes that are cost-effective and consistent with the compensation trends and corporate objectives
- Provides advise to corporate staff on pay decisions, policy interpretation and job evaluations
- Recommends creative solutions to specific compensation related programs and incentive plans
- Develops techniques for compiling, preparing, and presenting compensation data
- Establishes pay grades for new roles within the local region
- Oversees the participation in salary surveys and monitors salary survey data to ensure corporate compensation objectives are achieved
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
- 5 to 7 years' experience working in Compensation and Benefits and/or Human Resources in manufacturing
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field and/or equivalent work experience
- Strong knowledge of regulatory and legislative issues impacting Benefits (COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, HSA, Medicare, Cafeteria Plan, USERRA, etc.). Should be able to provide guidelines to employees, managers, and directors
- Knowledge of all federal, state, and local regulations and compliance requirements related to employee compensation
- Must be familiar with all aspects of plan administration including required testing, Form 5500 preparation, and plan design, and regulations related to the retirement plan
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced, metrics-driven environment
- Flexible; team player; self-starter; self-motivated
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
Work Environment:
This position will primarily work in an office environment where sitting for prolong periods of time and using a computer, telephone and other office electronics are critical. The position will also need to lift up to 15 pounds on occasion.
