Role Description
The Senior IT SQL Database Administrator is responsible for operational SQL admin maintenance, leading smaller (100K) and mid-sized (500K) projects within time, budget and above customer satisfaction.
 
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee SQL Server databases across various product lifecycle stages, from development to mission-critical production systems.
• Configure and maintain database servers and processes, ensuring optimal system health, performance, availability, and security.
• Provide regular guidance and support to internal and third-party SQL database administrators.
• Utilize data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation efforts meet integration and performance expectations.
• Independently analyze, resolve, and correct issues in real-time, offering end-to-end problem resolution.
• Streamline and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
• Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
• Perform scheduled maintenance, updates, patching, and support release deployment activities after hours.
• Share domain and technical expertise, offering mentorship and cross-training to peers and team members.
• Oversee all SQL DBA activities and lead the engagements with our third-party managed service providers.
• Own and lead the Microsoft SQL roadmap within the Trivium Packaging in collaboration with the CCoE Manager.

Education & Training:
• University Degree level
• MCTS, MCITP, and/or MVP certifications a plus.
 
Experience: 
• 5+ years MS SQL Server Administration experience required.
• Experience working with SQL Server and Services on Azure & on Prem.
• Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
• Experience with backups, restores and recovery models.
• Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server.
• Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences at various hierarchical levels ranging from Directors to technical specialists.
