Operator Technician

Summary:
The Operator Technician will maintain and operate DWI, 3 Piece, or Sanitary End equipment in the assigned department. The position is responsible for maintaining optimum levels of production efficiency, spoilage and quality levels while working in a safe manner and complying with all Safety and Quality procedures.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Perform daily / department Safety checks to insure safe work habits exist and correct hazards
- Production equipment operation
- Production and quality assurance checks and documentation
- Dimensional and visual quality checks
- Shall understand the Food Safety Policy, GMP’s, HACCP Principle and Food Safety Standard.
- Machinery overhauls and upgrades
- Maintenance of can, end making, and auxiliary equipment
- Assisting in trial runs (SMA’s)
- Installation of new equipment
- 5S/Housekeeping
- LSS (Lean Six Sigma) Projects
- Work with all Team members to make recommendations for process improvements.
- Conduct inventory of materials to ensure sufficient stock to maintain operations.
- Be available for call-outs in cases of emergencies and breakdowns.
- Forklift operation
- Sorting defective product
- Packing and Packaging support at Palletizer systems
- Problem resolution
- Break Relief
- All other duties as assigned by Management
Competencies:

- Must be team oriented with good energy and initiative
- Ability to work any shift including 12 hour shifts, weekend shifts, holidays, etc.
Education and/or Experience:
- Prefer mechanical experience in a manufacturing / industrial environment
- Maintenance mechanic or technical production training certification preferred
- High School diploma or GED

The noise level in the work environment is very loud. Employees must wear hearing protection and all other assigned personal protective equipment. Temperature can range from extreme cold (<40 degrees) to extreme heat (>95 degrees). The atmosphere contains fumes, dust and odors.

Mechanical and electrical from machinery.
Exposure to pinch points, cuts, burns, metal dust and slivers. Daily work with chemicals that are toxic and explosive.
