Primary Purpose:

Supporting the Core Values of Passion, Teamwork and Excellence and under the direction of the Operations Team Lead and/or Department Manager, the Lead Operator Technician will oversee the work, maintenance, training and execution of the production planning schedule for their assigned area. The position is responsible for maintaining optimum levels of production efficiency, spoilage and quality levels while working in a safe manner and complying with all Safety and Quality procedures. 

 

Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

 

  • Oversee daily/department Safety checks to ensure safe work habits exist and correct hazards while leading by example.
  • Plan and coordinate “changeovers” and production line maintenance events.
  • Ensure optimal production equipment operation through guidance and training.
  • Ensure production and quality assurance checks and documentation.
  • Partner with OTLs, Technical Managers, Electro-mechanic Technicians and Electronic Specialists to ensure proper facilitation of Machinery maintenance, upgrades, and installation of new equipment.
  • Be the operational liaison for all trial runs (SMA’s).
  • Ensure departmental 5S/Housekeeping protocols are met.
  • Back up key OTL responsibilities including shift change meetings, production reporting, safety and emergency protocols and other operational specific duties to be able to cover shift in the absence of an OTL with Technical Manager support when needed.
  • Be available for all Operator duties as needed in cases of call offs, emergencies and breakdowns.
  • Maintain and improve on all established Continuous Improvement/Operational Excellence activities and programs.
  • Leadership in the completion of all daily, monthly, and annual maintenance activities, preventative/predictive maintenance work orders and breakdown repairs.
  • Work Directly with Maintenance Technicians, Electro-Mechanic Technicians and Electrical Specialists to ensure optimized maintenance activities in assigned areas.
  • Support all other team members by being an active On the Job Trainer.
  • Support all inventory management activities as assigned.
  • General Forklift operation and material movements as assigned.
  • Shall understand the Food Safety Policy, GMP's, HACCP Principle and Food Safety Standard.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong written/verbal communication skills in English as a single business language.
  • Computer skills at level that can support the ability to complete inventory-based transactions.
  • Demonstratable adherence to the Core Values of Passion, Teamwork and Excellence.
  • Adherence to the Code of Conduct.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing practices.

 

Education, Experience and Core Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 4+ years of experience in manufacturing with at least 2 years of Operator Technician experience.
  • Advanced Mechanical Aptitude and Proficiency as verified through standardized mechanical testing.
