Job Summary:
The Engineering Project Manager is the facilitator of key technology and customer initiatives, with full accountability for all aspects of project management. This role reports into the Trivium America’s business. Projects may involve capacity expansion, new technology implementation, process improvement, tooling and die design, and commercial transition. This role will manage all aspects of Engineering initiatives and projects including technical, financial, operational, sales, and commercial. Additionally, this role will lead and support the development and execution of plant operations-focused initiatives, improvements, workforce skills development, and best practices propagation. The Engineering Project Manager will be a technically astute Engineer with seasoned project management capabilities.
Job Duties:
- Collaborates closely with project teams or sector leadership to develop project business case and scope. Project proposals include scope of work, timelines, labor requirements, cost, and economic return on investment.
- Proposes and reviews design concepts and new technology.
- Execute process and equipment layout drawings (CAD)
- Prepare and present detailed financial analysis including project budgets, schedules, ROI analysis, and forecasts.
- Prepare, submit, and support project-related Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs)
- Prepare and execute Special Manufacturing Authorizations (production trials).
- Understand and develop process routing information required to support manufacturing enterprise system requirements (SAP)
- Manage cross-functional teams and report on project team progress to include schedule, cost, action items, risk, and risk remediation.
- Generates Scope of Supply documents and works closely with Purchasing Manager in negotiating capital purchases.
- Manage and forecast of associated project capital spending compared to budgeted costs.
- Presents multiple solutions when presenting project options.
- Manage project details and status with Microsoft Project and other internal project management and tracking tools.
- Lead implementation, start-up, and commissioning of new technology, equipment, and manufacturing processes within Trivium facilities.
- Manages, participates in, and plans technical training programs.
- Develop, justify, and execute operational and customer improvements projects.
- Assist Plant operations in general troubleshooting and process optimization
- Support and drive best practice initiatives across operations.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
- Experience in a high-speed continuous manufacturing environment.
- Experience / working knowledge in DWI/DRD, 3-piece welded, and Impact Extruded can making. Also, Easy Open and Sanitary End manufacturing is preferred.
- 10+ years of manufacturing project management experience
- Experience in managing multiple, large capital projects as well as smaller continuous improvement initiatives
- Experience in food processing technologies, including thermal processing equipment
- Minimum B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
- Working knowledge of project management software tools
- Strong CAD skills
- Strong analytical, budgeting, and cost analysis skills
- Strong leadership behaviors with a team-oriented, cooperative, facilitative style
- Strong service orientation, with proven experience in supporting both internal and external customers
- Ambitious and career-focused with an interest in growing within Trivium
- Strong organizational skills
- Knowledge of adult learning and training techniques
- Must be able to travel to Trivium facilities, equipment venders and customer locations an estimated 25% to 50% of work time
Work Environment:
This position will split time in an engineering office environment as well as the manufacturing floor. This environment involves both sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. Frequent use of devices including computers, telephone, and other office electronics is common. Working on special project may require time spent in the manufacturing environment where moving machinery produces noise and walking, and standing is required. This position will occasionally travel to other plant or office locations.
