Job Summary:

The Environmental Health and Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance and commitment to programs related to employee health and safety, environmental compliance and sustainability programs within the facility. This role reports directly to the Plant Manager.

 

Job Duties:

  • Managing and administering all health & safety programs and initiatives.
  • Assure compliance with all corporate EHS processes and requirements.
  • Facilitate investigations, root cause analysis, and required follow up to prevent repeat EHS incidents.
  • Manage EHS databases to assure timely reporting.
  • Develop, Initiate, and maintain and train on all EHS programs.
  • Assist site with completion of and training on all EHS related Standard Operating Procedures SOPs).
  • Analyze data to identify and priority continuous improvement of plant EHS Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Champion Sustainability data management and strategic initiative planning in line with Trivium long term targets.
  • Serve as Environmental Management Representative for site ISO 14001 Management System.
  • Assure compliance to all required environmental regulations (RCRA, DOT, EPA, State Agency).
  • Prepare all required internal and external environmental reports (e.g. Tier II, form R, bi-annual waste, Emission Inventory, etc.)
  • Update and maintain Environmental management plans (e.g. SWPPP, SPCC, HazWaste Contingency, ERP)
  • Establish proactive and cooperative relationships with safety and environmental regulatory agencies.
  • Manage the operation and maintenance of the washer, Schneider and associated chemistry, wastewater treatment process and equipment & annual Oxidizer engineering testing.
  • Review of washer and WWT metrics in operational databases as well reporting WW parameters externally.
  • Verify inventory/needs and order parts for the chemical process area.
  • Create various reports and analysis as requested by management.
  • Provide support for Corporate EHS Director.
  • Participate in Corporate System EHS audits periodically at various sites.
  • Work with Operations Leadership to ensure the safe and efficient movement of materials physically and systematically.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • BS/BA degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related technical field
  • Minimum of 3-years’ experience in a safety and environmental role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations relating to air, water, solid waste and hazardous waste management.
  • Working knowledge of behavior-based safety including general principles, audit process, root cause analysis, incentives, and accountability.
  • Experience in hazard awareness and risk assessment for flammable and hazardous materials.
  • Solid leadership, management, motivational, supervisory and administrative skills.
  • Solid interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated root-cause analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated safety and health assessments/audit skills.
  • Demonstrated effective training techniques and skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Computer proficiency in software applications, including Microsoft Office applications required for analyzing, monitoring, reporting and presentations.

 

Work Environment:

In this role, working in an office environment as well as on the manufacturing floor is required. This position will walk throughout the plant where moving machinery produces noise. Additionally, this position will use a computer, cellphone, and other office equipment to perform the job successfully.
