Job Summary: 

Under the direction of the Director of Manufacturing, the Plant Manager is responsible for the overall manufacturing organization, manufacturing support, process improvement, quality, and direct P&L. Accountable for all operational programs and expenditures to ensure maximum operational results to support the Ardagh Group business plan and compliance with all legal requirements.  Responsible for efficiency, quality, and operational improvement programs with accountability for safety, spoilage, costs, labor absorption, and support of strategic customer initiatives and projects. 

 

Job Duties: 

  • Drives lean initiatives. 

  • Develops and drives continuous improvement initiatives in quality, safety, leadership, productivity, inventory, supply chain, etc. 

  • Key customer contact to maintain strong relationships, forecasting demands, resolving problem areas and ensuring technical and quality support. 

  • Plans, develops, and implements operational policies and goals to ensure the organization operates at peak productivity and profitability. 

  • Accountable for plant project planning, budgeting, and on-time completion. 

  • Proposes and manages plant budgets, ensuring controls are in place so spending remains within agreed levels. 

  • Determines plans and changes in programs/operations based on projected sales demand. 

  • Ensures accurate completion of monthly operations reports, KPI’s and works with Plant Managers/Controller to evaluate against objectives, operating costs and project management status.  Makes adjustments in plans based on variances. 

  • Coordinates with Commercial, Product Development and Corporate Engineering regarding new business, product trials, projects, and installations. 

  • Communicates openly, clearly, and directly with all employees. 

  • Maintains a commitment to the company vision and the “spirit” of the organization through exemplary leadership style, structured performance management and a leadership development system. 

  • Works jointly with Human Resources on labor relations issues and activities. 

  • Addresses complaints and resolves problems. 

  • Develops employees for future advancement. 

  • Direct supervision of plant personnel; may vary from plant to plant 

  • Other responsibilities as assigned. 

 

Qualifications and Experience Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related business or technical field, or equivalent education and experience. 

  • Minimum 5 years senior manufacturing management experience with direct P&L responsibility in a large, high volume manufacturing facility. 

  • Experience managing in a self-directed work team environment. 

  • Proven experience in budget management, driving efficiencies and cost reduction. 

  • Must possess strong analytical, computer and communication skills. 

  • Excellent management/leadership aptitude. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel 

 

Work Environment: 

The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud outside of the office area.  Employees must wear hearing protection and all other assigned Personal Protective Equipment.  Temperature can range from extreme cold (<40 degrees) to extreme heat (>90 degrees).  The atmosphere contains fumes, dust and odors. Using communication tools, such as a computer and cell phone are essential to performing the job successfully.
