Job Summary:

The Senior Environmental Health & Safety Manager will be responsible for designing and supporting our NA plants and teams in implementing and maintaining comprehensive health, safety, environmental, and sustainability programs that ensure regulatory compliance and foster a culture of safety excellence.

 

Job Duties:

  • Design, develop and in collaboration with our teams, execute comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety programs to align with federal, state, and local regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.) and company policies.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to reduce workplace incidents, enhance overall safety performance, and continuously improve EHS outcomes.
  • Act as the key liaison between Group EHS leadership and FS NA EHS teams, ensuring effective communication and alignment of goals.
  • Mentor and guide in-plant EHS staff to drive skill development, succession planning, and professional growth.
  • Lead the development and delivery of training programs to educate employees and leadership on EHS standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate investigations, root cause analysis, and required follow up to prevent repeat EHS incidents.
  • Assist with completion of and training on all EHS related Standard Operating Procedures SOPs).Track, analyze, and report key safety and environmental performance metrics, including incident rates, near-mises, audits, and compliance updates.
  • Champion a “safety-first” culture by proactively engaging all levels to foster accountability and awareness.
  • Champion Sustainability data management and strategic initiative planning in line with Trivium long term targets.
  • Assure compliance to all required environmental regulations (RCRA, DOT, EPA, State Agency).
  • Oversee waste management strategies, water and air quality management, and control of chemical substances.
  • Establish proactive and cooperative relationships with safety and environmental regulatory agencies.
  • Understand and comply with the Food Safety Policy, GMP's, HACCP Principle and Food Safety Standard.
  • Stay up to date on pertinent regulations and industry trends, recommending proactive measures to maintain safety and environmental compliance.
  • Create, collect, measure and analyze data to discover trends for continuous improvement or initiate targeted prevention programs.
  • Lead a team of EHS personnel in safe handling, data collecting and research related to the manufacturing of consumer packaging products.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in managing EHS programs required.
  • BS degree in relevant technical field required.
  • Certification in either Safety (CSP), Industrial Hygiene (CIH), or HazMat (CHMM) preferred.
  • Relevant knowledge of ISA 14001 or ISO 45001 standards
  • Skilled in regulatory agency (both local municipality and State) interactions.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Exceptional written/verbal communication, training, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to lead a team, coach, train, mentor, and facilitate job tasks.
  • Ability to facilitate a cross-functional team.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing practices.

 

Work Environment:

This position will work in an office environment, where sitting for prolong periods of time and using a computer, telephone and other office electronics are critical. This position will also be exposed to working on the manufacturing floor, where moving machinery produces noises.
