Job Summary: The Category Manager – Indirect is responsible for managing ~$50M+ annual spend in an assigned category which can include spare parts, equipment/facility maintenance, CAPEX, professional services, secondary packaging, and other related categories needs across the Americas aluminum aerosol and metal can businesses. This position will partner with P/L owners, functional leads, and cross-departmental teams to analyze spend, support business needs and identify procurement related value creation opportunities. This position is expected to become an expert in the field, understanding the market dynamics, sources of supply and negotiation leverage points. Additionally, this position will develop and execute sourcing strategies, conduct sourcing events, and manage the overall contracting process. Lastly, the position will manage supplier performance (including the development of KPI’s), overall relationship and facilitate issue/claim resolution.
Job Duties:
• Develop category strategies and profiles incorporating market information, benchmarking intel and supplier dynamics
• Work with business and functional stakeholders to understand business needs/constraints, develop specifications and identify procurement related value creation opportunities
• Coordinate with procurement, finance, and other members to develop spend analytics
• Use category profiles and leverage points to develop sourcing strategy
• Conduct sourcing events including contract re-negotiations, RFP’s, reverse auctions to unlock value for the business
• Manage contracting process including negotiation of Master Agreements (MSA), Supplier Agreements, Scopes of Work (SOW), Change Orders (CO), Key Performance Indicators (KPI), and Service Level Agreements (SLA) that meet business needs
• Monitor overall supplier performance including quality, cost, contract terms, delivery, and technology to enhance the total value procured from supply base and delivered to the business
• Build strong relationship with suppliers to implement improved operational and commercial supply outcomes for the business and customers
• Facilitate resolution of service, quality, and other supplier related issue/claims
• All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in related field, Master’s degree preferred
• Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant work experience in procurement in a direct materials category leadership role
• Relevant experience in a company with a mature procurement function
• Expert knowledge in end-to-end Strategic sourcing and contract negotiations
• Experience in market and benchmark analysis at a broad level
• Experience in manufacturing or packaging companies
• Mastery in forecasting, benchmarking, developing & implementing sourcing strategies, performing RFx events, conducting negotiations and contracting
• Proven track record of achieving annual cost reduction savings and working productively in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to analyze facts in a well-structured analysis to make informed decisions to generate business value
• Owner mindset, self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a cross-functional team environment
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills with ability to present with confidence to all audiences
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple cross departmental projects at the same time and understanding key milestones to achieving project goals
• Understanding of data systems, policies and procedures that impact procurement function
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
