Purpose of the role: 

 

Asset accountant is responsible for conducting the transactional processing, performing the month end activities and doing all the account reconciliation work with specialization to Fixed Asset and Lease Asset Accounting. While doing these duties, the accountant ensures that it is in compliance with the professional legal practices and standards, and also with the organization's policies and procedures.

This role is also responsible for assisting in supporting capital expenditures, fixed assets, recording and managing lease assets, handling the ad hoc reporting, and analysing the capital assets and projects.

 

Your responsibilities: 

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) provided by BPOs.
  • Record fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions.
  • Maintain and update lease contract records.
  • Track the compilation of project costs into Assets Under Construction (AUC) accounts and close out those positions once the related projects are completed.
  • Calculate depreciation for all fixed assets and lease assets.
  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Actively participate in monthly closings and the preparation of monthly financial statements.
  • Review and update detailed schedules of fixed and lease assets, including accumulated depreciation.
  • Monitor company expenditures for fixed assets against the capital budget and management authorizations.
  • Assist in preparing account analyses as requested.
  • Support year-end closing activities.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests.
  • Perform account reconciliations and analyze account balances.
  • Support standardization initiatives.
  • Ensure timely processing of assigned tasks in accordance with the Closing Calendar.
  • Ensure manual entries are executed accurately and within the correct period in the ERP system.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations efficiently and resolve any required adjustments.
  • Use the company ERP system (SAP).
  • Utilize Blackline and Rhiza tools.
  • Understand the logic of the company’s Chart of Accounts for both Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss.
  • Comply with internal and external controls, as well as fiscal, tax, local, and corporate requirements.

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • 0-2 years of work experience in a related field

  • knowledge of financial reporting is an advantage
  • previous experience of general accounting is an advantage
  • experience in SAP accounting software is an advantage
