Purpose of the role: 

 

The CAPEX and Special Projects Category Manager’s main role is to execute and deploy the company’s CAPEX strategy in alignment with the business.

 

The role includes but not limited to management of strategic sourcing activities for CAPEX and other Transformation related transactions such as M&As, Sales of Assets etc.

 

The person is responsible to convert business needs into sourcing actions, securing optimal price/value ratio of purchases and delivering agreed saving initiatives. The Category Manager is the primary face towards suppliers when it comes to negotiation, contract lifecycle and performance management. Ensures good communication, information flow and collaboration between different hierarchical levels to pass high quality standards into the company.

 

The Manager successfully interacts with Operational Excellence, Manufacturing Excellence  and Procurement Operations Teams in order to collect business needs and secure that category strategy is implemented on plant level. Ensures the highest efficiency combined with innovation, automation to increase value.

 

Your responsibilities: 

 

  • Accountable for ensuring delivery against the overall and individual Procurement Targets defined for the organisation and the assigned category
  • Accountable for consolidating supplier, market, category and internal business data and information to form the Category Strategy and run sourcing activities
  • Accountable for developing and implementing a cohesive, business-aligned long-term Category Strategy at both the category and sub-category level, in alignment with key senior stakeholders across all BUs and Divisions
  • Accountable for developing and communicating Category Plans for key areas of the category
  • Responsible for the communication of the final Category Strategy and Category Plans to the relevant stakeholders
  • Accountable for ensuring the resources, information and tools are in place for project execution throughout the category
  • Owns the key supplier relationship and defines governance process.
  • Accountable for ensuring robust contractual arrangements are in place for the category
  • Accountable for the development of the “Category Playbook” to summarize the strategy, to communicate key contacts and suppliers and to guide the best practice approach to operational buying
  • Accountable for monitoring compliance and adherence to Trivium Procurement policies and procedures
  • Responsible for ensuring internal issues are addressed and resolved on a timely manner
  • Actively drive integration of Procurement in core business processes, ensure the implementation of Procurement governance model and ensure consistency with the Trivium requirements and standards
  • Assess and manage risks across the Procurement categories while developing and contributing to a risk strategy for the categories together with mitigating actions
  • Manage contracts throughout their entire lifecycle including all changes, variations and claim management
  • Build strong relationships with key suppliers to negotiate more innovative and beneficial contractual agreements and service levels
  • Manage negotiation process, content and results
  • Lead the negotiation team to define the desired outcome of a negotiation
  • Identify stakeholders; understand and interpret their current and future needs and manage their expectations. Give advice and build long-term value partnerships
  • Build strong rapport with key suppliers and establish appropriate governance model aligned with the Category strategy
  • Establish cross-functional teams to negotiate and implement improved service delivery
  • Collaborate closely with relevant departments to ensure understanding and compliance with key procurement strategies and policies
  • Track and report savings, monitor TCO improvement as well as working capital improvement using the tracking tools in place in line with Procurement Savings Definition
  • Provide periodic and ad hoc reports and forecasts on performance against plan and potential in following up on KPIs and reporting on trends 

 

This role will suit you if you have the following:

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • 8-10 years of experience in strategic procurement, with a strong focus on indirect categories.
  • Multiple years of experience in managing complex stakeholder environments.
  • Reputable Negotiation Training Certification
  • Ability to develop high impact sourcing strategies. Exhibits thought leadership
  • Solid analytical skills. Able to define and understand the most critical issues
  • Strong negotiating skills. Thorough understanding of sales/marketing practices
  • Ability to develop actionable recommendations and implementation plans
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong management skills, with emphasis on people development
  • Solid knowledge of contracting principles and ability to draft key contractual terms independently.
  • Demonstrated world class supplier relationship skills. Continuously, but constructively, demanding of supplier’s performance
  • Outstanding cross-functional leadership skills; viewed as credible by business unit/functional leaders
  • Willingness to “constructively dissent” and challenge senior management thinking on key purchasing issues
  • Visionary leader with a global business perspective
  • Advanced stakeholder management skills: can get buy-in and commitment from both internal and external stakeholders
  • Developed Project Management skills, experience driving complex projects
  • Strong financial and business acumen
  • Customer oriented mindset & exceptional at teamwork
  • Solid MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) skills
  • Languages: Fluency in English is a must
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, Ariba, Coupa) is a benefit
