Primary Purpose:

Under the direction of the Operations Team Leader, and/or general supervision is responsible for safe and efficient operations as well as assist with maintaining equipment in a manner that provides for a sound quality product.

 

Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

· Comply with safety policies and practices and participate in the plant Safety Program.

· Maintain a safe and clean working environment for self and all team members and equipment through daily maintenance, 5S, and housekeeping activities.

· Adhere to quality standards and procedures, supporting the positive release program and promoting quality within the operation.

· Participates, collaborates and complies with all company maintenance programs and practices.

· Provide accurate reporting of safety, production, efficiency, quality and potential problem areas to operate the department in an efficient and productive manner.

· Maintain supply of cans & ends through safe operation of can/end-making equipment, palletizing and de-palletizing and sorting/isolation of defective product.

· Assist with maintaining continuous flow of material for production equipment/processes.

· Assist with warehousing finished product and palletize areas.

· Assist in the movement of machinery and the occasional removal of jammed pallets.

· Support LSS (Lean Six Sigma) that will drive continuous improvement in plant Safety and Operations.

· Work with team members to make recommendations for process improvements.

· Perform various jobs of responsibility on a rotational basis.

· Shall understand the BRC Food Safety Policy, GMP’s, HACCP Principle and BRC Food Safety Standard.

· Forklift operations as required.

· Provide relief to personnel as necessary.

· Other responsibilities as assigned.

 

Skills & Competencies:

· Effective verbal and written communication skills

· Strong decision making and problem-solving skills

· Knowledge of machines and tools, including maintenance practices

· Ability to determine the kinds of tools and equipment needed to do a job

· Ability to read/watch gauges, dials or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly

· Ability to safely and efficiently operate a forklift

· Basic computer skills

· Demonstrated ability to motivate others with a positive “can do” attitude and maintain a safe, cohesive work environment

· Possess the ability to teach, train and facilitate job tasks

 

Education & Experience:

· High School Diploma or GED

· One year of experience in high volume manufacturing
