Production Manager

Job Summary:
The Production Manager is responsible for all areas of Plant Operations under the guidance of the Plant Manager.  These responsibilities include safe, cost efficient and timely production of required goods, coordination of materials and inventories, production scheduling, and process improvement and optimization to support the business plan and ensure compliance with all legal requirements.  The Production Manager is also responsible for employee technical skills and standard work development and will work with Management and Accounting to develop and insure adherence to operational budgets.    

Job Duties:
•    Effectively manage, direct, and support all organizational Safety and Environmental expectations and initiatives, ensuring that all production employees have the information and tools to operate in a safe and effective manner.  
•    Effectively manage all aspects of manufacturing to deliver high quality products and exceptional customer service efficiently. 
•    Build and drive an organizational culture which aligns with company core vision and values while delivering Operational Excellence through the Trivium Business System (TBS) model.
•    Drive a culture of continuous improvement and excellence using established guidelines and statistical tools.
•    Responsible to ensure that equipment is properly maintained and coordinate with the technical team leaders & maintenance supervisor to optimize maintenance programs.
•    Work to deliver a lean, capable operation which meets or exceeds budgeted and plant goals.
•    Provide leadership, direction, performance management, and develop Operations Team Leads with emphasis on teamwork, problem-solving, employee engagement, and defined development paths tailored to each individual need.
•    Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities
•    Coordinate effective production and crewing schedules while optimizing productivity, quality, and inventory levels.
•    Implementation of continuous improvement initiatives in spoilage, labor utilization, safety, efficiency, manufacturing operations, cost reductions, etc.
•    Support new product development and introduction.
•    Work closely with Operational / Quality management on continuous improvement projects and root cause problem solving.
•    Work with Human Resources to address and resolve personnel issues.
•    Effectively manage labor costs, including overtime management.
•    Review and approve or react to reports, requests, etc. that directly reflect the cost effectiveness and quality of the operation.
•    Support annual capital expenditures plan for equipment wellness or KPI improvement.
•    Support annual maintenance budget reviews and submissions. 
•    Internal and external communications, as needed, 24 hours a day to ensure proper operation of every aspect of the business.
•    Shall be competent and shall have appropriate education, training, skills, and experience. They shall be fully conversant in BRC Food Safety Policy, GMP’s, HARA Principles, and BRC Food Safety Standards and Applications.
•    Ensure the environmental management system conforms to the requirements of ISO 14001 and reporting on the performance of the environmental management system to top management.
•    Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
•    Bachelor’s Degree in manufacturing, Business or Engineering; or Associate / Technical Degree in related field with five years of management experience in high volume manufacturing, including employee screening, performance review, counseling, training, development.
•    Hands on experience with Engineering/Maintenance Systems Programs
•    Experience with self-directed work forces a plus
•    Ability to effectively communicate up and down in the organization
•    Systems and continuous improvement orientation
•    Working knowledge of OSHA guidelines and regulations
•    Working knowledge of statistics and Quality metrics.
•    Able to solve complex problems outside of normal processes
•    Excellent management / leadership aptitude
•    Computer experience (Windows, MS Office products, Visio and other)
•    Strong analytical communication skills
•    Understanding of relevant environmental regulations

Work Environment:
In this role, working in an office environment located on the production floor is required. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud outside of the office area. Employees must wear hearing protection and all other assigned Personal Protective Equipment.  Temperature can range from extreme cold (<40 degrees) to extreme heat (>90 degrees).  The atmosphere contains fumes, dust and odors. This position will use a computer, cellphone and other office equipment to perform the job successfully.
